Our house isn't big enough for our children to have their own rooms, so this morning Matt & I rearranged Bria's/what used to be the guest room to accomodate Tyler and moved the guest room into Tyler's old room. It was a bit of a challenge, manuevering large furniture through small areas, but we managed and the right pieces of furniture are in their proper places now. I am amazed though, at how much STUFF my children have already and they've only been here for less than 2 1/2 years!!! They have the bigger of the two rooms and we still weren't able to fit all their things in there. Bria is now in the crib (as opposed to the pack & play she slept in for the first 9 months of life) and Tyler is in a "big boy bed" (he was sleeping in the crib with the rail off for the past month or more); a twin mattress and boxspring on the floor. Naptime was a little interesting today, but I think the way we'll solve it is to stagger the times they go down...making sure Bria is asleep before I put Tyler down for his nap. The same thing with bedtime, although they did fairly well tonight. We only had to go in a couple of times to remind Tyler that it was time for sleeping and there was to be no more talking. It's really hard to maintain a straight face though when all we hear on the monitor is "Hi baby! Boo, baby!" (Tyler's way of saying "peek-a-boo") He got Bria giggling with that and then he started laughing...and like I've said before, I think hearing my children laugh is the best sound in the world, especially when they make each other laugh!!! But since it was bedtime and time for sleeping, we did have to put a stop to the pleasantries they were exchanging back there. Both have been in bed for over an hour now and we haven't heard anything from either of them in about 45 minutes. Hopefully they will sleep through the night just like they have been doing and will wake up refreshed and HAPPY tomorrow.
elijah and molly have been sharing a (small!) room since she grew out of her bassinet at 6 weeks old. the worst part is that they wake each other up early in the morning. ("molly! molly are you awake? molly! wake up!") but i think the going to sleep chatter is cute, and they're better friends because they share a room. good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow, that was a productive day! So now you'll have your guest room! I'm sure that Tyler and Bria will get used to each other in the same room. Ours still have 'parties' before bedtime sometimes, but it's not too out of hand.
