Our Quiver: Memorial Day, A Parade and Visit with Friends

What a busy week we had! Memorial Day was Monday, so Matt had the day off. He, Cameron, & I went to Saver's for their 50% day. We were successful and found some really great things. After we got home from that, Matt mowed and ran the string trimmer. With all the rain we've had and the occasional days of sun, our lawn was DESPERATELY needing attention. After the lawn was taken care of, we went down to Aunt Sarah & Uncle Tim's house to have an early supper. They recently moved about an hour South of here. It was the first time we had been there. They have a wonderful place with lots of land and a few cows. The kids had a wonderful time playing with their cousins, Sawyer & Scout.

This would have been a perfect picture if Miss Bria was looking, but it's good of the boys, so I posted it.

No matter how much I give him a pacifier, those little chubby fingers find their way to his mouth quite often.

Bria is such a helper. Sometimes she doesn't know when to stop. But at least it's not the other way around.

Friday we went to Krispy Kreme after Matt finished working (@ home) for our free donut, since it was National Donut Day. Afterwards, we went to a nice quiet shady park and let the kids play. Everyone was enjoying themselves, until Tyler fell (while running in flip flops) and skinned up his knee pretty badly. He was ready to go home after that. But they loved having daddy chase them down the slides. :)

Matt & I both realized that the slides at the parks have gotten smaller. ;) But fortunately, I was the one who had the camera and he didn't get a picture of me.

Yesterday was the annual Old Shawnee Parade. We enjoyed the parade, from the few shady spots along the route. The kids got a bunch of candy (which will probably last us a year, I think I can throw away the leftover candy from last year's parade now!). Afterwards, we walked over to Old Shawnee Town, where they had lots of booths, balloons, and food. We enjoyed a few free samples (REAL Southern Sweet Tea - it was SUPER SWEET!), Tyler got a balloon sword and Bria a balloon flower. Then we walked over to the "farmstead" where they had minature horses and baby goats. The kids got to feed the goats and ride the horses, but those pictures are on Matt's phone, so I will try to get them uploaded later.

Yesterday afternoon, we enjoyed a wonderful visit from my former college roommate and her family. Maureen's brother got married to a KS girl Friday night, so that warranted a visit. We were thrilled to know that there was a time slot for us to get together (she has a lot of family out here - aunts, uncles, cousins, & a set of grandparents). They were at our house for a few hours in the afternoon, then we met up at the park with sister-in-law Sarah (also a former college roomie) and had a chance to catch up and let the kids play. Her two older boys are right in between Tyler and Bria, so they were all into Lightning McQueen, Buzz Lightyear, and such. They got along well and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them.
